How It All Began

            About four years ago, while doing research on environmental issues, I happened upon a group of people who were willing to put aside their differences of opinion on religion and matters of politics in the face of a terrible threat to the human race and to the world at large.  Those people called themselves the Earth's Pillars.  At the time, they were not politically active or even publicly known as a group.  Regardless of political, social, cultural, or religious affiliations, they had been working behind the scenes for quite some time, trying to prevent people from doing further damage to the planet and to themselves.

            They were and still are normal people-- they have jobs, children, spouses, families, lives in the real world.  Unlike many people, however,  they had seen the threat to the world and were willing to go out of their way on a spiritual level to stop it from happening.  They're not the only group out there doing this, either.  In fact, there are many groups out there, working independently on the very same issues the Earth's Pillars face.   Originally, they preferred to work only on the spiritual plane to stop the destruction of this planet and its creatures.   Now, however, in the wake of all of the political and religious unrest in the world, they've agreed to open their doors to others to work in political, social, environmental, and spiritual arenas. For two years, I've worked in all four arenas with the group, and I can say that while we have a long way to go before anyone can say an overwhelming difference has been made, we are making a dent in the issues on a daily basis.
